[CAREER NEWS] What if this summer, you moved... the lines with neurography?
Summer's already here... This season is a time of transition between an immediate past and a future to be designed. On the beach or on your deckchair, what if, to relax, you tried something other than the endless mandalas, sudokus or adult vacation notebooks? Imagine a moment when you let your mind wander while your hand freely traces lines... Not to produce a "pretty" drawing, but to transform what you feel, think or hope into a personal, intuitive visual. This is exactly what neurographic drawing offers: an artistic and introspective method that reconnects you with yourself... and can help you clarify your future.
Definition
Neurographic drawing is a visual and intuitive method of personal transformation. Its principle: translate your thoughts, emotions and intentions into lines, organic shapes and colors.
Through a sequence of lines, curves and colors, you materialize what's inside you: a concern, a desire, a question. This process, accessible to all, works on both the cognitive and emotional levels. It allows you to explore your inner world without using words, and sometimes, without even realizing it, to see things more clearly.
No drawing skills are required. It's neither an academic art nor an aesthetic performance. It's a silent dialogue with yourself. The process relies more on spontaneous gesture than on technique. It's a tool that frees you from judgment, stimulates creativity and activates brain areas linked to problem-solving.
Origins
Created in 2014 by Pavel Piskarev, a Russian psychologist, architect and philosophy professor, the Neurographica® method is founded on a solid scientific foundation. It draws on several currents: neuropsychology, Gestalt, psychosynthesis, as well as systems theory and strategic management.
Piskarev sums up his method as an interdisciplinary practice, designed to transform our limiting beliefs, model a new inner reality and facilitate the transition to action.
Today, Neurographic Drawing is used in a wide variety of contexts: coaching, leadership, education, change management or simply as part of a personal approach to well-being.
Principles
Neurographic drawing is based on a few simple yet powerful principles:
- Intention: everything starts with a question, a theme or an issue. It could be :
- a desire: "What can I create this summer?
- an obstacle: "Why am I procrastinating on this project?
- a search for meaning: "What's important to me in my work or career today?
- Lines: we freely draw curved lines that intersect and intertwine. They symbolize the often chaotic or disordered flow of our thoughts.
- Rounding: each intersection is softened by small roundings. It's a key gesture symbolizing integration, harmony and reconciliation between the parts of ourselves.
- Color: we color certain areas intuitively. This unconscious choice brings out emotions, reinforces clarity of intention and anchors transformation.
- The result: a unique, organic, vibrant drawing that mirrors our inner landscape at a given moment. And very often, a true visual revelation!
Process
Here are the concrete steps for creating your first neurographic drawing:
ØMaterials :
- A blank sheet of paper (thick paper or not)
- A fine or medium black felt-tip pen
- Colored pencils, felt pens or watercolors
- Optional: masking tape to create a clean frame
ØSteps :
1. Choose a clear intention, an open-ended question or a personal keyword.
Tip: You can write your intention on the back of the sheet to come back to it later.
- Draw a free line on the paper, without thinking, without trying to represent anything. Let your hand guide the movement. We'll give you a tip on how to do this in our next workshop! 😉
- Add more lines that intersect and intertwine, forming an organic network.
- Round off all intersections: soften every angle with curves. This is the meditative phase of the process.
- Add shapes if you like: circles, patterns, geometric figures, abstract elements. Let your inspiration guide you!
- Color the areas you've created according to your intuition. You can choose one color per emotion, or just follow your instincts.
- Add details or repeating patterns if you feel the need to extend the moment.
Estimated time: 20 to 60 minutes.
Benefits
The effects of neurographic drawing are often immediate... and surprising:
- Mental clarity: as we draw, we organize our thoughts without realizing it. Our brain synchronizes with movement.
- Stress reduction: the effect is meditative. Like a form of "full presence in action", it calms the nervous system.
- Self-connection: emergence of elements that we wouldn't necessarily have expressed through words, such as emotions, deep desires and impulses, but also resistance or blockages that were previously unconscious.
- Boosted creativity: by breaking out of rational patterns, you gain access to more fluid, non-linear thinking and new solutions.
- Decision-making support: in times of transition (reconversion, mobility, professional development), this tool can provide support and help you tap into your intuition... and trust it.
Fields of application
Here are a few avenues of exploration you can try out with neurographic drawing during your vacation:
§Visualize your next job or a new professional project → Draw around the intention: "What direction do I want my career path to take?"
§Explore your deepest values → Through the colors, shapes and keywords that emerge, you'll see take shape what really matters to you.
§Reflect on your work/life balance → What place do you give to rest, creativity, performance?
§Work on a goal or challenge → For example: "How can I overcome this fear of...?", "How can I dare to launch myself into...?" without words or judgment...
§Create an aligned vision of your future → What if you literally mapped out your path ahead of you, in your own way?
Conclusion
What if this summer became a discreet... but profoundly transformative turning point?
Neurographic drawing is not an artistic discipline in the classical sense. It's a gentle, powerful practice, accessible to all. It doesn't require much time... just a sincere desire to listen to ourselves differently.
So this summer, between two pages of a novel or two sunbaths, treat yourself to this unique moment! There's no pressure, nothing to prove, nothing to achieve. Just the opportunity to reconnect with yourself.
And for those of you who already have an excuse in mind not to try the experience during the vacations (I can see you coming!😉 ), I've got you covered!
I'd like to invite you to join me for an online workshop, where I'll have the pleasure of helping you create your own neurographic drawing, so that you can welcome the start of the new school year with energy and clarity!
