Raconte-nous ton parcours à l'IÉSEG…

J'ai intégré l'IÉSEG en 2001 et été diplômé en Juin 2006. J'ai fait une spécialisation Finance en dernière année après avoir effectué deux stages en Banque pendant mon cursus. Un premier stage au CIC à New York puis un stage de 6 mois à la Banque de France. J'ai eu la chance de m'investir pleinement au sein des associations de l'IÉSEG, ayant été à la fois trésorier du BDE et organisateur de la coupe de France des grandes écoles de commerce (l'IÉSEG a gagné cette année-là !). J'ai également créé avec un ami l'association d'œnologie Bacchus.

…et tes liens avec la « communauté IÉSEG » ?

En intégrant l'IÉSEG, j'étais très fier de faire partie de cette communauté. Il y avait une très bonne ambiance, que ce soit entre les élèves de même promo ou avec les promos supérieures/inférieures. Tout le monde se connaissait d'ailleurs de près ou de loin. Je suis toujours très proche de la communauté IÉSEG puisque j'ai toujours de très nombreux amis de l'école. Il faut dire aussi que l'école est une agence matrimoniale à grand succès, étant marié à une IÉSEG !

Décris nous ton parcours professionnel !

J'ai eu la chance de signer mon premier CDI en avril 2006 avant même la cérémonie des diplômes qui se déroulait en juin ! J'ai intégré le cabinet d'audit KPMG à Paris dans le département services financiers où j'ai passé 3 années très formatrices. Je suis ensuite entré dans le groupe chimique RHODIA, basé à Paris en Corporate Finance pendant plus de deux ans avant le rachat de cette dernière par la société SOLVAY. Suite à cela, j'ai été envoyé à Bruxelles au siège de la société dans l'équipe Investor Relations, un poste qui m'a énormément appris sur les différents métiers de Solvay. J'ai pu ainsi mieux comprendre les rouages d'un grand groupe industriel du CAC40 en alliant stratégie, finance et communication. J'ai découvert depuis juillet 2015 un nouveau poste au sein de Solvay à La Rochelle : contrôleur financier d'un site industriel de 350 personnes où je suis pleinement en charge du contrôle de gestion.

Des conseils pour les promos sortantes ?

De mes souvenirs, la recherche d'un premier emploi ou d'un stage est quelque chose d'impressionnant car on se lance dans la vie active ! Le premier conseil que je vous donnerai est d'avoir confiance en vous et d'être fier de votre formation. L'IÉSEG est une très bonne école qui forme ses étudiants à être opérationnels rapidement dans le monde professionnel. Je recommanderai également de rester soi-même et d'être humble. Savoir se remettre en question, à tout moment de sa carrière est une très grande force.

Li'mportance du réseau, selon toi ?

Le réseau de l'école grandit d'année en année et devient par conséquent de plus en plus important. Il ne faut pas oublier que nous sommes les portes drapeaux de notre école et de notre formation. N'hésitez pas à contacter des anciens IÉSEG afin de vous aider dans vos recherches !

Tell us about your experience at IÉSEG...
I joined IÉSEG in 2001 and graduated in June 2006. I specialised in Finance in the final year after two internships in the banking sector during my studies. First, an internship at CIC in New York and then a 6-month internship at the Bank of France. Having worked at BDE Treasury and organised the French Business Schools Cup (IESEG won that year!), I had the chance to get fully involved with IESEG. I also created with a friend the Bacchus wine association.

... And your involvement with the "IÉSEG community"?
When joining IESEG, I was very proud to be part of this community. There was a great atmosphere, both between the students from the same year and the students from previous/following years. Whether close or not, everyone knew each other. I am still very close to the community IÉSEG since I still have many friends from the school. Being married to an IÉSEG, It must be said also that the school is a dating agency to great success!

Describe us your professional career!
I had the chance to sign my first permanent contract in April 2006 even before the graduation ceremony which was held in June! I joined the auditing firm KPMG in Paris in the financial services department where I spent 3 extremely formative years. I then entered the chemical group Rhodia, based in Paris, in Corporate Finance, for more than two years before the acquisition of the latter by the company Solvay. After that, I was sent to Brussels at the headquarters of the company in the Investor Relations team, a position where I learned a lot about the different businesses of Solvay. I was able to better understand the workings of a large industrial group of CAC40 combining strategy, finance and communication. I found a new position in July 2015 within Solvay in La Rochelle: financial controller of an industrial site for 350 people where I am fully responsible for management control.

Advice for last year students?
From my memories, looking for the first job or internship is something impressive because you jump into the working life! My first advice is to have confidence in yourself and be proud of your qualifications. IESEG is a very good school that trains its students to be quickly operational in the professional world. I also recommend to be yourself and to be humble. Challenge yourself and rethink your ideas throughout your career are very strong points.

The importance of the network, according to you?
The school network is growing by the year and therefore becoming increasingly important. We must not forget that we bear the leadership of our school and of our qualifications. Do not hesitate to contact Alumni IÉSEG in case you need help with your research!
