The Career Intelligence Unit (CIU)
Monthly Alumni Strategic Briefing
In a professional environment that has become more fluid, demanding, and complex, careers can no longer be managed by chance. Seeking opportunities, repositioning, transitions, new roles, finding meaning, networking, AI: today’s career challenges often require more than a one-time response.
It is with this in mind that the concept of the CIU, Career Intelligence Unit, was developed.
Principles and objectives
This is not a top-down format, but a meeting between IÉSEG alumni and Elizabeth Toucas, our Head of the Career Development Unit and Executive Coach, designed as a strategic career support unit.
Indeed, the CIU is an open and interactive space where everyone can:
- ask questions freely without judgment,
- share a professional situation and gain a fresh perspective,
- request an external and objective view from the Executive Coach and fellow alumni,
- receive feedback,
- understand market dynamics,
- seek a boost,
· expand their network,
or simply listen to the discussions and learn from the experiences of other alumni, as a question raised by one participant often resonates with the concerns of others.
Beyond individual journeys, the CIU aims to create a true community of IÉSEG career paths.
Each CIU session starts from the real challenges, questions, and issues brought by alumni, which can relate to all topics connected to career, including:
professional development, | career repositioning, | job search, | decision-making, | professional attitude, |
need for clarity, | loss of professional bearings, | self-confidence | doubt or difficulty, | CV, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile |
negotiation, | deskilling and AI | employability | visibility | network strategy, |
Finally, the CIU also aims to restore energy, confidence, and momentum to alumni sometimes facing periods of doubt or professional fatigue.
For whom?
The Career Intelligence Unit is designed for all alumni, whether recent graduates, managers, or experienced executives:
- reflecting,
- in transition,
- seeking opportunities,
- starting a new position,
· or simply wanting to manage their career development with more strategy and clarity.
Initially, specific CIUs will be organized for recent graduates, followed by others tailored for experienced managers and executives.
The format
The format is designed to be short and impactful: a monthly 1 hour 15 minute online session to allow as many alumni as possible to attend. It can be adjusted based on alumni feedback to ensure flexibility.
It is structured as follows:
- Opening briefing,
- Sharing career and market updates,
- Open discussions around challenges brought by participants,
- Feedback and collective reflection sessions,
- Strategic debrief at the end of the CIU.
The framework
Each CIU is led and facilitated by Elizabeth TOUCAS, our Head of the Career Development Unit.
Her role as an Executive Coach within the Career Intelligence Unit, beyond ensuring the CIU framework, is to structure the discussions, help each participant gain perspective on their situation, clarify their thoughts, and turn questions into concrete action steps, while fostering a dynamic of sharing and feedback among alumni.
The exchanges are based on confidentiality, non-judgment, respect, listening, and psychological safety. What is shared during the CIU stays within the CIU.
The CIU, a complementary initiative to the existing services of the Career Development Center
The Career Intelligence Unit enhances the offerings already provided by the Career Development Center:
- individual Executive Coaching sessions, including CliftonStrengths Coaching and Magic Box Coaching,
- professional development counseling sessions,
- thematic group workshops and personal development sessions,
- webinars, masterclasses,
- conferences,
· lifelong learning,
as well as various professional development opportunities available to alumni.
Let’s connect!
To extend the exchanges between the CIUs and keep the Career Intelligence Unit community active in the long term, a dedicated WhatsApp group has also been created.
This group, managed by Elizabeth, will allow registered alumni to receive CIU news, upcoming dates, useful resources as they come, and various information related to career challenges.
To join the CIU WhatsApp group, simply send a text message to 06.85.33.01.57.😊
Conclusion
As you can see, the Career Intelligence Unit, a strategic career support hub, aims to create a true sense of career belonging within the IÉSEG alumni community.
Through this recurring meeting, the goal is to establish a lasting dynamic of exchange, follow-up, and support among alumni, where everyone knows they can regularly return to share progress, clarify questions, and not face professional decisions alone.
