[NEWS CAREER] What about Mitterrand gave us career advice...

Il y a 20 ans le 8 janvier 1996 je commençais à travailler. Ce jour-là mourrait François Mitterrand. Les commémorations de ces jours-ci m'invitent à me remémorer la date. Aussi à imaginer en quoi les citations du grand homme peuvent faire écho en matière de conseil Carrière. Lisez plutôt ces 5 citations de François le Grand (parait ces jours-ci "François Le Petit" de Patrick Rambaud) et la lecture que je vous propose d'en faire.

J'ai aussi une pensée émue pour ceux qui ont commencé à travailler ce 10 janvier 2016 alors que sur le chemin du travail qui sait comme moi dans le métro un pop up sur leur smartphone leur annonçait la mort de David Bowie, de Ziggy :-(

1. "Il est urgent d'attendre": quand je suis en colère et que je fais un mail de réaction intempestive, je l'écris et j'attends le lendemain avant de l'envoyer!

2. "Gouverner, ce n'est pas plaire": tout au long de l'enfance, etc., nous nous adaptons pour plaire aux autres, à nos parents au premier chef; je connecte avec ce que je veux et j'ose dire non parfois quand je ne suis pas d'accord, au risque de ne pas être aimé. Je suis adulte!

3. "Quand on est dans l'action, il n'y a pas d'immense déception": j'arrête de procrastiner, je prends conscience de mes peurs et je me lance; et comme on dit, il n'y a rien pire que de mourir avec des regrets, mieux vaut tenter et avoir des remords!

4. "Pour dire oui, il faut pouvoir dire non": quand je prends un nouveau poste, dans une nouvelle entreprise ou en mobilité interne, j'y vais car j'adhère à celui-ci; j'ai le choix; au travail je prends les choses qui me font vraiment envie et je sais dire non aux autres!

5. "Le courage consiste à dominer sa peur, non à ne pas avoir peur": les attentats du 13 novembre ont mis au goût du jour le hashtag #Notafraid; ô que si nous avons peur et c'est pour cela que nous sommes courageux. Bref, au travail, j'identifie mes peurs et je cherche à les dominer, à voir quand j'ai déjà eu qui sait une situtation similaire où j'ai su trouver les ressources; ayant identifié cela, j'avance!

Twenty years ago on 8 January 1996 I began to work. François Mitterrand died that day. Commemorations of those days invite me to remember the date. Also to imagine how the quotes of that great man could mirror in consulting career. Instead, why not read these 5 quotes from Francois the Great (these days it seems "François Le Petit" Patrick Rambaud) and some other reading that I have got to propose?

I also have a thought for those who started work this 10 January 2016 as someone who, on their way to work on the tube, learnt through a pop up message on their smartphone about the death of David Bowie, Ziggy :-(
1. "It is urgent to wait": when I'm angry and I'm writing an angry email from, I'll write it and will wait before sending it the following day!
2. "To govern is not to please": throughout the childhood, etc., we adapt to please others, our parents in the first place; I connect with what I want and I dare say no sometimes when I do not agree at the risk of not being liked. I'm an adult!
3. "When you're in action, there is no huge disappointment" I stop procrastinating, I acknowledge my fears and I act; and as they say, there is nothing worse than to die with regrets, it is better to try and remorse!
4. "To say yes, we ought to be able to say no": when I take on a new position in a new business or through internal mobility, I'm going because I adhere to it; I have a choice; at work I take the things that I really want and I know how to say no to others!
5. "Courage is about taking over your fears, not to be afraid": the attacks of 13 November brought out the hashtag #Notafraid; Oh if we are afraid and that is why we are courageous. In short, at work, I identify my fears and I try to dominate them, especially when I have already experience a similar situation when I have managed to find the necessary resources; having identified this, I advance!
